New Prince of Persia Rogue and more Dropped at Triple I Inciative Showcase

The recently streamed Triple I Ininciative has all the flare and silliness of a Nintendo Conference in the best way. Creative and intriguing indie games were on display, including Evil Empire's Prince of Persia Rogue. When you think about it this franchise makes perfect sense for a rogue lite.

Its pretty surprising that we are getting another title in the Franchise, after The Hidden Crown -- but I am here for it. After a excellent animated intro, the game seamlessly transitioned into its 2D gameplay, a cel-shaded affair showing the titular Prince walll jumping, sliding, delivering twin dagger justice. The best part is that its dropping in May, early access via Steam -- breaking the Ubisoft's long standing tradition of timed exclusives for its PC releases. No word yet if this title will be included in Ubisoft Plus. Dev Evil Empire certainly has a pedigree for rouge llites coming off Dead Cells -- So this certainly will be a big hit when it drops on early access.

The show was also chock full of sequel updates, including second entires for Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire, and The Under Miner. A slew of new Vampire Survivors content was also announced, including its long awaited port over to Playstation 5.

Kill Knight looks like it is going to be blast for those who like a dialed up challenge. The red infused trailer gave a glimpse at its blood soaked, bull hell insanity

Gestalt: Steam and Cinder looks to be an intriguing Metroidvania. The pixel art title has definitely 16 Genesis vibes, and features a a red-haired heroine and is coming on May 21st. And speaking of classic vibes, Wabisabi Games showcased a cinematic trailer of its cyberpunk-infused title RKJK, its protagonist fighting back against a revolution with the power of graphiti, ala Jet Set Radio.

Broken Roads is a post-apocyptic narrative RPG set in a Austrilia Wasteland. It appears to have a very laytered and deep RPG systems, with alliances, alignments, job classes and more. The branhing storytelling reminds me a bit of Disco Elysium.

Unlike the other games in the show that are "coming in 2024" or later, this was the only game in the show that was confirmed to be available now. While the show ended with the aforementioned Prince of Persia title, this was a great showcase with a lot of Indie love. I hope we get more smaller showcases like this, as it really helps to highlight some great projects from smaller teams.
