about me

Hi! My name is Sam DeLong, and I am a content creator and gaming content writer with Cerebral Palsy. Like many of us involved with nerd culture, I felt like an outsider, even as a Gen X gamer since the 1980s. I starting creating content in 2017 and started by Channel, Sam DeLong Games. I know that for many of us gaming is not just a hobby. It is our passion. We Listen to to the podcasts, disect every reveal trailer and can't wait to support our favorite dev or character. Growing up with a disbility, gaming rescued me lonliness. It has forged nearly all of my friendship and I want to share my unique perspective about the feeling of community that gaming can bring to us all. Stick around for Gaming Content from a disabled creator.

the Story Behind

Growing up with Cerebral Pasly, I spent alot of childhood and teen years isolated; lots of surguries, hospital stays, and physical therapy. One day my parents got me an NES during a hosptial stay and the engagment of the buttons did something for me. I had terrible hand eye coordnation. But over the course of playing Mega Man 2 and those bone crunching platformers in the 1980s. It was nothing short of a miracle. Even my doctors at the time couldn't explain how it happened. Did this improve naturally over time, or was gaming to blame? It was a gateway into all my friendships and even my marriage later on. Gamers didnt care that I walked with a limp or that one of my feet turned in. Only that I was good at Mario Kart.

There was a major event that gave me eventually push that I needed to really persue content creation. It was nothing short of losing everything. The Camp Fire was largest wildfire in history of California. And with that, I found myself homeless. My home, and my entire town was completey destoyed in under an hour. I only got out with my PS4 laptop and the clothes on my back. Sleeping on my friends couch, I was remember playing Last of Us living through my own apocalypse of sorts. Rather than saccoming to dispair I found myself re-thinking my life and I had a shift in perspective. Later that night, I bought a capture card and started my channel and brand SAM DELONG GAMES.
